Responsible for the strategic guidance, management and preparedness across all U.S. businesses (AH, HP, Bio) for litigation (commercial, product liability, intellectual property, antitrust), government investigations from all sources (DOJ, Congress, etc.) the e-Discovery strategy and support and the overall legal risk management of issues impacting the U.S. businesses or global reach from U.S. jurisdictions.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage staff of 10+, including attorneys and paralegals.
Routinely update and counsel Boards, CEO and most senior management and legal functional leaders (US and Global) on topics related to areas of responsibility.
Manage team responsible for the strategic management of litigation, dispute resolution, and Congressional and state and federal governmental investigations alleging legal violations across all U.S. businesses (AH, HP, Bio) and locations.
Strategically manage litigation and related matters that reach from U.S. jurisdictions to rest of world. Set legal strategy for diverse areas or risk including commercial litigation, antitrust litigation, larger employment litigation, patent and intellectual property, and product liability. Designing, building, and implementing the U.S. risk management agenda in close coordination with related partners from finance, compliance and Global Legal Function.
Proactive teaching and training, including preparation of media-based training and in-person presentations to all businesses and functions to avoid litigation or manage risk, including sales force training.
Work with business to understand and mitigate impact of litigation on business objectives.
Provide review and counseling on indemnity clauses and insurance in significant contracts.
Responsible for US e-discovery program and processes.
Provide expert and strategic advise to other areas of the US legal department to ensure collaboration and guidance on areas of responsibility which impact other areas.
Member, US Law Department Leadership Team
Juris Doctorate from an accredited institution required
Substantive legal knowledge and experience in areas of litigation, product liability, intellectual property and employment law, as well as substantive laws specific to Pharmaceutical Business which are covered by compliance program to allow for proper risk management.
Depth of industry and business knowledge needed in order to successfully measure, navigate and implement risk management approach.
Experience navigating a global matrixed organization required.
Experience assessing global business issues and its impact on US legal litigation and investigation environment.
15-plus years of legal experience
Seven-plus (7+) years of experience leading teams (direct and indirect)
Global experience preferred

(2) Operational management requiring a participatory approach to setting expectations and managing progress in a productive environment
