Duties & Responsibilities:
Utilize cutting edge multi-color flow cytometry approaches to develop novel assays for target engagement / pharmacodynamics and disease associated biomarkers that will support the development and advancement of research projects within the immunology and respiratory disease portfolio
Interface and work closely with colleagues in the translational medicine biomarker group to transfer qualified biomarker assays for fit for purpose development and implementation into early to mid-stage clinical trials
Work with lab supervisor to identify new and innovative techniques associated with flow cytometry based biomarker discovery
Work well in a highly matrixed environment
Develop an understanding of R&D team goals and work effectively towards achieving them
Independently prepare and communicate technical reports, publications and oral presentations
Deliver updates to project teams and department management in context of overall project goals
Keep abreast of relevant literature and develop visibility outside of functional area
Mentor and assist in the development of scientific staff
Implement new technologies; perform literature searches, attend scientific meetings and keep abreast of literature in own field
Report and treat data with a high level of integrity and ethics
Comply with all applicable regulations, performing all work in a safe manner; maintain proper records and scientific notebooks in accordance with SOPs and policiesInitiates and completes routine procedures in an independent and efficient manner; Troubleshoots effectively and solves scientific problems independently; Operates lab equipment and is independently responsible for maintenance
Designs and executes non-routine experiments on a basis of literature analyses with minimal supervision
Independently applies basic scientific principles, performs literature searches, attends scientific meetings, and keeps abreast of literature in own field
Proposes new experiments/technologies based on science as well as overall understanding of drug discovery/development process; Demonstrates expertise in field and contributes to training technicians and junior level scientists
Effectively communicates and defends own work in the context of team and department goals both orally and in writing
Reports and treats data with a high level of integrity and ethics; Write protocols, procedures, and technical reports; Provide input for scientific reports
Complies with applicable regulations, performing all work in a safe manner; Maintains proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies


Scientist IV Requirements:

One of the following is required: Bachelor s Degree from an accredited institution with 10+ years of experience in a relevant scientific discipline; A Master s Degree from an accredited institution with six-plus (6+) years of experience in a relevant scientific discipline
Scientist III Requirements:

One of the following is required: Bachelor s Degree from an accredited institution with 10+ years of experience in a relevant scientific discipline; A Master s Degree from an accredited institution with six-plus (3+) years of experience in a relevant scientific discipline
Knowledge, Skills, Experience needed for both levels:
Proven experience and knowledge in the development of multi-color/ multi-parametric flow cytometry based approaches to address biological and disease associated questions. Experience in the development of target engagement / pharmacodynamic biomarker assays is highly desired.
Ability to troubleshoot assays and interpret complex data in an independent fashion
Excellent agility to take on multiples tasks and effective time management skills
Possess strong written and oral communications skills and ability to prepare and present data to project teams and research management as required
Experience in working in a matrix environment and supporting multiple projects at same time
Ability to provide training and guidance to laboratory personnel
